Is there any books like Water for Elephants, Moulin Rouge, Atonement, Romeo + Juliet, Phantom of the Opera etc?

I highly suggest Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I'm afraid it's not very modern, but it's very appropriate for what you're looking for. It's quite a long story, and can be confusing, but it's not hard to stay engaged once the story's picked up, because it is seriously fantastic. One of my favorite books.
