Is thing song...decent, at the very least?

It's ok... I think you're missing the point a little though. It's got a sense of rhythm, but you need to remember to be more subtle. Why not show us WHY it's a depressing song, and not just outrightly point out that it is? Subtleness would make it far more appealing. Not everyone call pull off Creep by Radiohead.
